The Developing Rugby Coaches (DRC) course is a series of practical / technical Coaching Workshops split into modules, aimed at developing rugby knowledge and providing coaches with ‘best practice’ methods and how to apply that knowledge in the rugby coaching environment.
This course is run over a weekend, usually in February. More information about the 2018 course, will be released by October this year.
A coach will receive credit for attendance for the weekend workshop, and these details will also go into the NZRU database to confirm your attendance of the course. Attending this course will provide for individual up-skilling and we believe it is a great opportunity to enhance the skills of a coach.
To obtain the FULL Level 2 Coaching Certificate, coaches will have to attend the weekend course and will also be practically assessed by Bay of Plenty Rugby Union at your team’s training sessions. Coaches will also need to complete a Rugby Laws Test and complete a coaching log / diary showing 50 hours of practical planning and coaching.
The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Coach Development team will facilitate the courses and coaching observations. There will be a range of specialist coaches involved in presenting the various modules to attendees.
Coaches should also apply if they wish to complete one of the following courses within the next 12months:
