Women’s Rugby is a major focus in the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union with our own Black Fern and Bay of Plenty Women's Development Officer, Lesley Elder leading the drive for equal opportunities for girls to play rugby.
In 2017, there were 1601 girls aged 5-13 playing some form of rugby- a 36% increase from 2016 illustrating the need to provide girls with quality rugby opportunities.
2018 will see a number of non-contact and contact options for junior girls to play rugby with other girls. There is now the opportunity to play rugby all year round!
Girls can enter into mixed teams across all JMC/JAB grades. There are a number of girls already signed up to play.
