Bay of Plenty Rugby Union each year strives to provide quality development initiatives for our local age grade players from Junior Club Rugby (U13) through to Steamers and Volcanix.
These opportunities are held throughout the calendar year and include:
Players are selected to attend these opportunities through our annual Age Grade Representative Programs and Talent Identification process
These teams provide a great opportunity for players to compete at a higher level and test themselves against other provincial players. We have the following Bay of Plenty Age Grade Representative Teams:
The purpose of our Talent Identification Programme is to identify players that have the potential to develop and grow both skill set and personal characteristics to succeed in rugby.
Our Talent Identification Program is watching nominated players during their rugby season.
Players will be observed on specific areas of their performance based on their playing position. This will be kept on record and also passed onto either the player themselves or to their coach so they are aware of their strengths and skill set to improve on.
Players are generally nominated by their coach to either the relevant representative team coach or Player Development Manager. Nominations can also be made by filling in a nomination form.
