Bay of Plenty Men's and Women's Sevens set for Cambridge

Tomorrow both Bay of Plenty Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams’ will compete at the Provincial Union Cambridge Sevens Tournament.

This weekend the Bay of Plenty Men’s Sevens squad will make their first appearance of the 2017/2018 season. Te Puna’s Jesse Church will be a welcomed addition to the squad which was named earlier this week. The All Black Sevens players’ will not to be attending this weekend as they prepare for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Tournament in Dubai on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 December. Te Puke’s Luke Campbell and Greerton Marist’s Atu Masirewa have not been considered this weekend due to injury and family commitments.

The Bay of Plenty Women’s Sevens squad will field one team this weekend following their competitive display at the Counties Manukau Provincial Sevens last Saturday in Pukekohe after only conceding one loss to Waikato in extra time in their final game. Head Coach Victoria Grant has selected a strong youthful side despite a number of injuries within her squad. The Bay of Plenty Women’s side will also be without their New Zealand Black Fern Sevens players who have already departed for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Tournament in Dubai on Thursday 30 November and Friday 1 December.
