Bay of Plenty Steamers named to play Otago

The Bay of Plenty Steamers will join the Volcanix in their voyage south to Dunedin. With the Mitre 10 Cup round robin drawing to a close the battle is on for the remaining three semi-final spots, with Wellington already guaranteed a home semi-final.
 
Head Coach Clayton McMillan has named an experience starting fifteen to run out against Otago tomorrow afternoon. Lead by Captain Keepa Mewett the forward pack will see the return of Liam Polwart named as the starting hooker. In the reserves openside flanker Matthew Axtens has been named in the number 19 jersey. Axtens will be joined by the formidable Ajay Mua, who will be hoping to make an impact off the bench in his first appearance for the Steamers.
 
Mike Delany will lead the ship in his 70th appearance for the Steamers, in an unchanged backline. Matthew Garland in just his second appearance will provide midfield cover, while Elijah Nicholas will provide extra back cover following Isaac Te Aute’s knee injury.
