Bay of Plenty Under 18 Girls are set to take on Auckland East in the Northern Region Under 18 Girls final this weekend in Hamilton.

Bay of Plenty Under 18 Coach Jimi McLean attributes a cummulation of hard work and commitment has lead to his side reaching the 2017 Northern Regional final.

The Bay of Plenty Under 18 side fell short last year and are looking for redemption this weekend. McLean commented, “We lost to a good North Harbour team last year in this final. There are still a couple of girls who still remember the loss of last season, so hopefully we can do the business on Saturday”.

McLean is calling for his forwards to take charge. “Traditionally Auckland teams have fielded strong ladies, in particular their forwards. For us we need our forwards to be woking hard throughout the game, especially at the breakdowns. But as a team we need to ensure we play smart, play at pace and with width to overcome their size”.

This will be the Bay of Plenty Under 18 Girls’s fourth final in five years.
