With the Semi Finals one week away the final pool round promises a feast of competitive games as every result has the potential for a team to make the top four.
Division Three 1st XV top two finalists are known after Mount Maunganui College beat Tarawera High School in a mid-week fixture and will see the Mount College boys take on the U15 A team from Rotorua Boys High School. Mt Maunganui College lost their pool match by a single try and have been improving ever since so this game promises to be a good even battle with the title being decided on the 12th of August.
Taupo Nui a Tia and Te Puke High School have secured home semi-finals. The real battle in division two will be between Tauhara College and Otumoetai College. A win to either team will secure a top for spot with Te Puke High School expected to be too strong for the Tauranga Boys College 3rd XV. If Otumoetai can get back to their early season form they may just sneak into the semi- finals.
Meanwhile Tauranga Boys College 3rd XV will need to play the game of the season to tip over the big dominating Te Puke High School team.
In division one the season ends with a repeat of last year’s final when Te Whare Kura o Mauao head to Rotorua to take on Western Heights High School and their first chance to challenge for the Te Kani Shield. With both teams secure in the semis with home advantage it will be an intriguing matchup. The Te Kani shield will be the motivator for both teams and it promises to be the match of the round.
John Paul College, Bethlehem College and Rotorua Boys High School all need wins to secure a semi-final spot. Rotorua Boys High School 2nd XV had a close win over Trident High School in round one and the Eastern bay Boys are keen to get one back.
