With only three weeks of the Bethlehem Coachlines Championship to play teams are on the home stretch in the race for a semi-finals spots.

John Paul College were gifted five points when Opotiki College defaulted while Bethlehem College went down 15-8, in a game which has made their top four hopes even harder. Te Whare Kura o Mauao and Western Heights High School had predictable wins and remain at the top of the table.

With overseas tours and holidays looming Te Whare Kura o Mauao take on Rotorua Boys’ High School 2nd XV in a mid-week fixture. After a disappointing win over Bethlehem College the Kieran Botha coached team will need to lift their performance to beat the 2016 champions.

Western Heights High School will take Aquinas College on for the Te Kani Shield also in a mid-week fixture. Things don’t get easier for the Aquinas team but with the Te Kani Shied on the table anything is possible.
In the Eastern Bay Trident High School travel over the hill to take on the Opotiki College youngsters. After a disappointing default the Opotiki boys will be keen to restore their reputations by posting a win over their neighbours.

Bethlehem College take on the toughest challenge in a must win game when they take on John Paul College. A win by Bethlehem keeps their semi-final aspirations alive. John Paul College on the other hand is only a win away from securing a top two spot. The Steve Orr coached JPC boys are the form favourites with good fitness levels and the discipline to stick to their game plan it will be an exciting game.

In Division Two Otumoetai College are set to host Taupo Nui a Tia. Otumoetai College will be a handful for the visitors from Taupo. Taupo Nui a Tia remain at the top of the table while Otumoetai College are looking for a home semi with a win.

Tauhara College will also need a win to secure a top four spot before they leave for their tour of South Africa. Whakatane High School has hit a form slump and will be looking to reverse this at their home ground on Saturday.

Te Puke High School remain on a roll and with some outstanding performances by players like Pena Taumata and Jack Hollinshead they should prove too strong for the Rotorua Boys 3rd XV. A depleted Papamoa College team will host Tauranga Boys College 3rd XV and this should prove to be an equal and close contest.
