Bay of Plenty Rugby Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Iharaira (Lipi) Sinnott as the Central Bay of Plenty Regional Rugby Manager.
Sinnott will bring an abundance of experience to the role with his extensive coaching knowledge, rugby management experience. He has a strong connection to Rotorua and he was a standout candidate for both Central Bay of Plenty representatives and Bay of Plenty Rugby Union who were involved in recruiting for the role of Central Bay of Plenty Rugby Development Manager.
Bay of Plenty Operations Manager Neil Alton said Sinnott’s appointment will provide a positive contribution to the growth and development of rugby within the Central Bay of Plenty region.
“Lipi will bring a huge amount of knowledge acquired from his time in a number of high level rugby environments, which he will be able to pass onto coaches and players in the Central Bay of Plenty Region.
“Lipi is also passionate about making a difference to his community and I have no doubt he will do this with the support of the clubs and schools,” said Alton.
Sinnott said he is excited to return home and work with the Central Bay of Plenty community to lead them in fostering the development of rugby.
“I am really excited to have the opportunity to return to Rotorua to contribute to developing the game. I have maintained some very strong relationships within the rugby community and I’ll be making the most of those people.
“I hope the community will work together to achieve a better outcome for Rugby and I am pleased I will be in a position to lead this work,” said Sinnott.
Sinnott will be challenged to lead the development and growth of coaching in addition to increasing participation within clubs and schools. The role will also be utilised as a driver to improve high performance outcomes.
Sinnott will commence the role at the start of February 2018.
Iharaira Sinnott Background Information:
Iharaira Sinnott has been coaching in France since 2007 he is currently the defence and individual performance coach for the Oyonnax Rugby team.
Sinnott has also previously been the defence and skills coach for the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union from 1989 - 2002.
During his time with the Hurricanes as the Super Rugby franchises Assistant Manager for Recovery and Logistics 2000 – 2006 he was also responsible for the Recovery and Logistics for the All Blacks from 2000 – 2003.
