This year’s Quick Rip Festival will see over 300 Intermediate children ripping it up at Gordon Spratt Reserve on Friday 29 June.
An easy game to learn, Quick Rip requires simple skills. The game enhances ball handling and running skills, allowing players of all capabilities a chance to participate in. Quick Rip is a variation of Rippa Rugby but introduces non-contested scrums, lineouts and the ability to kick the ball.
The Quick Rip framework encourages participation and engagement for all involved. This coupled with a fun atmosphere; the festival will provide plenty of colour and excitement.
Western Bay of Plenty Junior Development Officer Kendra Reynolds said, “I’m really excited for this festival, specifically because of the purpose being to encourage participation in year seven’s and eight’s in a fun environment. There are prizes for the best dressed team, best chant and best try celebration so the kids really buy into the fun and enjoyment aspect of sport.”
“It’s really exciting to see diversity in the festival with three new schools participating in 2018 - Otamarakau School, Tauriko School and Rotorua Intermediate. It’s also pleasing to see the growth in numbers from Aquinas College as a result of the in school lunch-time Quick Rip Activations led by staff members.”
The festival kicks-off at 9.30am, concluding at 1.30pm at Gordon Spratt Reserve, Papamoa.
