NZRU Rugby World Cup 2007 review released
The independent review of the New Zealand Rugby Union’s Rugby World Cup 2007 campaign has been released.
The review, which was conducted and prepared by Auckland lawyer Mike Heron and SPARC’s Don Tricker, has been made available on the NZRU website (www.nzru.co.nz). The report can be downloaded from the Publications section of the site.
The only exclusions from the published report are those details which were considered to be commercially sensitive or confidential.
Speaking on behalf of the authors, Mike Heron said: “This review represents our analysis of the material learnings from the unsuccessful Rugby World Cup campaign. It also includes details on the process we undertook to review the campaign. We had full access to all relevant materials and appreciate the cooperation of everyone we worked with to complete this review.
“The report represents our views and findings in line with the terms of reference, thereby bringing our part of the process to an end. Accordingly, Don and I do not wish to make any further comment,” he said.
NZRU Chairman Jock Hobbs said the NZRU was grateful to the authors for their work on the review which was substantial, and also to those who contributed to the review.
Mr Hobbs, NZRU CEO Steve Tew and the All Blacks manager and coach will make further comment at a media briefing later today.
