BAY RUGBY TO RUN NEW HOLIDAY PROGRAM
Media Release 1 April 2010
A considerable number of rugby stars of the future, will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with their heroes during the school holidays.
In a new initiative, the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union is putting together a school holiday program, for youngsters of the region. The Bay of Plenty Steamers will be an integral part of the holiday programme that will take place at Mount Maunganui, Rotorua and Whakatane during the first term school holidays.
The holiday program is aimed at both boys and girls between seven and twelve years of age. While the intention of the program is to teach the youngsters present fundamental rugby skills, the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment.
With the Steamers on hand the holiday program is more than just teaching basic rugby skills. There will be plenty of fun and games with a prize giving at the completion of each program.
In a region where Maori rugby rules supreme, the youngsters will be given instruction in performing the Haka. A fun component should be where the youngsters get to hold their own media session. A Rippa Rugby tournament will round out the two days of non-stop action
In an attempt to attract as many rugby mad youngsters of the region as possible, the price has been kept to a modest thirty dollars for the two-day program.
Registering to book a place which is sure to sell out, is as simple as ringing Kane Hames (BOPRU Rugby Development Officer) on 07 574 2037 or 029 471 2696.
