VOLUNTEER of the WEEK AWARD
TONY HOWE
Principal of Opotiki Primary School, Tony has had a long association with rugby particularly in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Apart from a host of supportive behind the scenes activities, Tony is Secretary of the Opotiki Rugby Club and is a delegate on the Eastern Bay sub-union.
For 3 years he has been Chairman of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Junior Advisory Board, the organisation managing schoolboy rugby, and also referees games up to Senior Divisional level.
Holiday Program Tauranga 2011
250 keen rugby players had a heap of fun, met some new mates and learnt some new skills at the recent Bay of Plenty Rugby Holiday Programmes run in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane. Rugby Development Officer, Kane Hames said the response from the public was outstanding. The programme run during Easter Holidays gave participants the perfect start to the upcoming rugby season by teaching some important techniques in the areas of the tackle, ruck and maul aswell as passing, running, catching and evasion.
