This Saturday sees week two of Community Rugby Under Alert level 2 restrictions. Regardless of the Government’s review of the current alert level this Friday 21st August, here’s a summary of what’s happening across the region for community rugby this Saturday.

WESTERN BAY OF PLENTY

Senior Club Rugby
Farmlands Premier Mens and Premier Development finals at Tauranga Domain:

  • Each of the three clubs involved have been allocated 2 x 100 max mass gathering sections for their supporters, one in the grandstand and one on the concourse. These sections will be kept two metres from their neighbours, will have separate entrance ways, will have individual contact tracing measures with Tga Sports using Gate 1 and Judea and Te Puna using gate 2 to access the venue.
  • The players, coaches, match officials, team management, sponsors and staff will be located in a separate 100 max mass gathering group and kept separate from the crowds. They will be limited to movement between their change rooms and the field and those not participating in the matches will sit behind the technical zones on chairs.
  • There will be no access to any of the controlled areas by anyone outside of these 100 max mass gathering groups.  All inquiries to be directed to the individual clubs.
  • Finals to be live streamed on the Bay of Plenty Rugby Facebook page here.
  • Other than those spectators arranged to attend through their clubs, all other spectators are strongly encouraged to NOT attend and instead watch the matches on the live stream.

Farmlands Senior Reserves Round Robin Matches:

  • Te Puna home game - players, coaches, management and referee to access change rooms via the main entrance, controlled area, contact tracing in place. All spectators to park in the top car park and watch from inside their vehicles. Uncontrolled space, no contact tracing, personal responsibility.
  • Katikati home game – players, coaches, management and referee to access the controlled space and park in the car park at the rear of the club.  Uncontrolled space, no contact tracing, personal responsibility.
  • Papamoa home game - have moved their game to their back field. Eastern Districts have one side of the field, Papamoa have the other.

There will be very limited access to venues for spectators. Check with your club for individual spectator arrangements.

  • There’s been a change to the structure of the competition with a move away from all teams playing at one location to a new draw being made with all teams playing a home and away round this weekend under level 2 restrictions.
  • If the alert level reduces to level 1 next week, then junior rugby will continue as normal.

BAYWIDE SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Competition continues under level 2 restrictions imposed on school grounds by the Ministry of Education.

Individual schools continue to make decisions based on their individual needs.  Best place to see whether games are on or not is through the draw online at www.sporty.co.nz/bopdraws.

Please remember if you are a player or part of a team:

  • If you’re sick or have flu like symptoms, STAY HOME.  Don’t go to rugby this weekend.
  • If you’re going to attend a venue as a spectator, follow the wishes of the host club.  Check in, use the hand sanitizer, avoid physical contact with people and stay 2 metres away from the person beside you.
  • If you attend a club room afterwards, only 100 people allowed! You must check in, use hand sanitizer, be seated and be served.
