VACANCY - Western Bay Junior Rugby Officer

A full time 12 month fixed term opportunity within the Community Rugby team at Bay of Plenty Rugby Union now exists. This role was originally advertised just before the country was hit by the Covid-19 Pandemic and was almost filled, before LOCKDOWN put a halt to the process.

Now that community rugby is back on our fields, the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union is excited to advise that this role, can now be re-advertised. Those people that applied for this role back in March need not apply again. Your applications have been kept on file.

Bay of Plenty Rugby is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing provincial rugby provinces in New Zealand, boasting the third highest number of registered players, a rapid growing women’s game and is renowned as the home of 7s.

Our Community rugby team delivers all forms of rugby across the region from juniors (U6-U13), secondary schools (U14 – 1st XV), seniors (Senior Men and Senior Women) and U16 & U18 boys and girls representative teams.

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic person to join our Community Rugby team to support us in growing participation of Junior players (5-13yrs) in the Western Bay sub union area (Katikati to Otamarakau and everything in between).

As the Western Bay Junior Rugby Officer, you will be primarily responsible for:
- Deliver non-contact (RIPPA and Rip Rugby) and contact opportunities for Junior Schools to participate in rugby activity, including; Western Bay Rippa Modules, Rippa WC, Rip rugby Festivals, AIMS Games,
- Liaise with the Western Bay Sub-union, assisting with communications and administration of draws and results.

To be successful in this role you will be hard working, diligent, passionate about making a difference to the lives of our kids, organised, with a sharp eye for attention to detail. You'll need to be able to talk with a wide range of people and have strong written communication skills. Some hours of work will be in the evenings (after school) so you'll need to be flexible.

A relevant tertiary degree in Sport and Recreation is desirable, but not a necessity.

You will hold a clean full drivers licence (can drive a manual), tow and reverse a trailer beneficial but training will be provided and have a willingness to travel throughout the Western Bay to connect with our people.
