Women's Club Rugby

The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union is passionate about providing exciting opportunities for female athletes to play the game of rugby creating viable pathways to the representative level.

How does Womens club rugby Work?

The Baywide Club Women's competition features clubs from all three sub-unions including the Tauranga, Rotorua and the Whakatane area. There is one grade that caters for all ages (16+) and sizes.

The 2017 Womens teams are confirmed as;
• Whakarewarewa (Rotorua)
• Rangiuru (Te Puke)
• Rangataua (Tauranga)
• Waimana (Whakatane)
• Rotoiti (Rotorua)
• Waikite (Rotorua)
• Te Whanau apanui (East Coast)

When are games played?

Games are generally played on a Sunday with a 1pm kick-off.

When does the Season start?

The 2017 Baywide Club Women's club season will start on the 7th May with semi finals being played on the 23rd July and finals on the 30th July.

A pre-season Womens Club Tournament will be held at Whakarewarewa on Sunday 30th April.

What representative teams are availiable?

Club rugby is a pathway into our local representative teams, including the Bay of Plenty Volcanix and Bay of Plenty Women’s Sevens teams with potential pathways to the Black Ferns and NZ Women’s Sevens squads.

A pre-season Womens Club Tournament will be held at Whakarewarewa on Sunday 30th April.
