Te Waiariki Maori Rugby

Kia ora tātou e ngā whānau o Te Waiariki.

Hei te marama o Mahuru e tū mai nei, ka timata nga hui whakaharatau whutupōro o Te Waiariki mo ngā taitama tāne, ngā taitamāhine, ngā wāhine hoki e hiahia ana ki te whakauru mai ki ngā kapa nei:
• Taitama tāne – U15, U17, U19
• Taitamāhine – U18
• Wāhine/Tane – pakeke

Ka tū te hui tuatahi a te 2 o ngā rā o Mahuru ki te Whare Whutupōro o Matatā, a te tekau karaka i te ata.

Nau mai, whakapiri mai, whakatata mai!

Kia Ora Whanau o te Waiariki, with the regular season coming to a close, the opportunity to represent your Whanau, Hapu and Iwi playing for Te Waiariki in the Te Kihu o Te Ika Maori rugby tournament is drawing near.

This year we are entering teams in the following grades:
• Boys-U15, U17, U19
• Girls-U18
• Womens/Men-Adults

The first Hui for the Waiariki teams is on Sunday 2nd September, 10am at Matata Rugby club. This first day will cover the significance of Matata Māori Rugby Historyically regarding NZ Rugby and NZ Māori Rugby, Māori Style of rugby we want to see, Te Ruianga o Te Waiariki (The Waiariki Haka), player registration and some training approaches to encourage a Māori style of rugby, Introduction of the coaches, and an outline of the training plan going forward.

The Te Hiku o Te Ika tournament dates/Venues are as follows;
29th September, Kararka Rugby club, Auckland
6th October, Waitemata Rugby Club, Auckland
13th October, Rotorua Stadium, Rotorua
