Te Waiariki Senior Men’s team is being re-established this year after a number of years of inactivity. Initially Te Waiariki Seniors will be playing in the inaugural Baywide pro 4 competition against Western Bay of Plenty, Eastern Bay of Plenty and Bay of Plenty Samoan. The team is coached by Murray Sturt form Rotorua, and Paddy Wana from Whakatane whom has represented Waiariki some 30 odd times during his playing career. A great squad has been put together from across the bay, who are enthused about taking on their counterparts in the Baywide Pro 4.
At the completion of the Baywide Pro 4, the Senior team will continue training in order to prepare for the annual Te Hiku o Te Ika Maori Rugby tournament in September and October 2017. The senior team will compete in the Te Hiku alongside the age group teams, U15/17 and 19 boys and U19 girls that re-entered the tournament in 2015-16.
The age group musters will be held on Sunday August 27th at Matata Rugby Club, starting at 10 am. The age group teams will train Sundays at Matata through to September 24th. The draw for the Te Hiku has been completed and can be viewed via the link below,
