Today will mark the start of a new Whanau Quick Rip initiative at Gordon Spratt Reserve. Whanau Quick Rip is a new initiative combining the success from the Junior Rippa Rugby Modules and the piloted adult quick rip programme held earlier in April this year.
The new Whanau Quick Grade that has been added to the already hugely popular Papamoa Rippa Rugby module at Gordon Spratt Reserve will see 500 kids aged 5-13 years of age participate in Rippa Rugby but also will now see some of those kids join their parents for Whanau Quick Rip.
Twelve teams have enter the module, with local rugby league club Papamoa Bulldogs as well as rugby clubs from Welcome Bay and Rangiuru.
Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Junior Rugby Development Officer Kendra Reynolds is excited to see the module kick off this afternoon.
“It’s great to see clubs get the whole crew involved from parents, players, children, managers and coaches in a fun no pressure zone. Plus Bay of Plenty Union CEO Mike Rogers and Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Referee Manager Pat Rae will be taking the field as a couple of the parents embracing the opportunity to play sport with their Whanau.”
There will be plenty of food vendors to grab a bite to eat plus Good Buzz to fuel the thirst.
