All applicants or nominees for positions on the Bay of Plenty Rugby (BOPRU) Board will be assessed against the skills and competencies framework by the appointments panel. Each prospective Board member must be able to demonstrate that they have the passion to advance the interests of rugby in Bay of Plenty, and the knowledge and ability to be able to do so.

Prospective Board members must be able to demonstrate that they can think and act independently. This means, for example, that they must be able to demonstrate that, following election or appointment, they would have no direct or indirect relationship that could reasonably influence, in a material way, their decisions as a member of the BOPRU Board.
