OUR REFEREES

It's often said but never said enough - without referees rugby just doesn't happen. Our volunteer referees are the pride and joy of our club - their mission is to Serve the Game. Serve the Community.

Keep checking back as we add more info about our referees, including profiles.

Our Referees are grouped into four panels.  Each of those panels of referees has a lead that is responsible for supporting them in the refereeing journey.  We like to call them, Panel Managers.  Currently we have four people who have kindly volunteered to take on those added duties/supporting roles (portfolios) within our club, Nick Hogan, Peter Hastings,l Paul Greenstreet and Peter Morgan.

Nick is currently our only Level 5 Referee.  He travels the world refereeing on the HSBC World Sevens circuit and NZR's NPC.

Peter Hastings is a vastly experienced referee with over 20 years experience.  In 2025, he won the Te Hapai Community Impact Award at the New Zealand Rugby Awards for his work in Mental Health.

Peter Morgan is also a vastly experienced referee.  Currently a Level 4 referee within the club, a former rugby player, Peter has been refereeing Baywide Premier rugby for the past 7 years.
