Understanding the Scrum with Mike Rogers - Session Review (12 July 2021)

BAYWIDE MEETING

*Key Learnings*

  • The Scrum is built on three key principals which lead to its success (or failure)
    • Shape
    • Balance
    • Connection
  • All three can be managed prior to "set". Correct shape, balance and connection will invariably lead to successful scrums.
  • Use this language with players during pre-match chat and during the game at scrum time. It will be familiar, and will create consistent messages between referees and players.
  • Look for changes in the above - these can be the trigger to making the right call when something goes wrong.

A change to Shape, Balance or Connection could be the cause for a scrum failure.

High standards at setup will often lead to scrum success.
