Bay of Plenty Rugby Referees has joined forces with the Union's High Performance unit to bring on Tasmyn Jackson as the new head of Strength and Conditioning. Tasmyn is best known as the S&C Coach for the Volcanix in the Farah Palmer Cup, and prior to joining the Union, has a background in group fitness.
Tasmyn will primarily be based at Mt Maunganui, but will oversee fitness trainings in all corners of the Bay. Initially, she will provide support for 2021 Referee of the Year Jaco Brouwer, who currently leads fitness trainings in Whakatane. She will also be working to establish regular sessions based in Rotorua, so watch this space for updates.
The weekly sessions in the Mount which she will lead will be every Wednesday evening (rain, hail or shine) and will look to utilise the great facilities at our disposal, including Blake Park, the High Performance Centre gym, and locations such as Mauao and the beach.
"I will be looking to bring the fun factor to the sessions with our Bay refs, and help them reach their fitness goals!" says Tasmyn, who is excited about working with our range of volunteers of all ages, fitness levels and walks of life. First session is this week, details below:
