The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union is pleased to announce our newest team member to our rugby whanau.
Logan Posthumus will join our staff as a part-time nutritionist to provide expert knowledge and support for our high-performance team.
Logan grew up in Northland before making the big move to the Bay of Plenty, where he began his studies. He has over ten years of experience in the nutrition and strength and conditioning world and has worked with some of our country's best and brightest, including the Gallagher Chiefs and All Blacks.
He is also a lecturer at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology in fitness and sports science and is currently finishing his PhD in sports nutrition which focuses on optimising body composition and energy requirements within rugby union players. Aside from his passion for the world of sports science, Logan's passion also lies in the game of rugby.
"I want to help Bay of Plenty Rugby become one of the strongest provinces in NZ. My philosophy is that it's incredibly important to increase the longevity of our athletes while also helping optimise their high-performance potential. Robust synergy between nutrition and strength and conditioning is an integral piece for achieving both those things."
Head of high-performance Tiana Ngwati says that her team and the broader Union are looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience Logan will bring to the Union in 2022.
"We are really pleased to have Logan come on board with our team. He brings not only a wealth of experience and knowledge, but he is a really great person who is right for the need of our environment. We are lucky to have him and know that the athletes will foster his advice."
