We want to recognise and celebrate one of our long-standing partners, Addline Transport, who have re-signed for another two years as our biggest supporter of Steamie, the Bay of Plenty Rugby mascot.   

Addline is a bulk transportation company based out of Welcome Bay, Tauranga, which provides transport, depot and stockfeed services for their clientele. They pride themselves on providing local, relationship-driven service that puts their clients front of mind.  

Addline were quick to jump on board as the official sponsor of Steamie when they saw the positive value he brings to the community and matchdays.  

“We originally wanted to partner with the Union for their community-centric focus and relationship with people in the region. We felt safe that our money would be re-invested through the Union into their rugby initiatives and create value for the community,” says Addline Spokesperson Kirsten Addison.   

“As for Steamie, we really liked the idea of him getting out into the community with the kids, interacting with people on matchday and getting out to the schools.”  

Addline staff have a personal connection to the game of rugby in the Bay of Plenty region, with many staff having either played the game or associated with it growing up.   

Addison says that a common connection of rugby between staff and the clients they service enhances their business relationships and forms stronger bonds.  

“Our staff love our relationship with the Union and especially enjoy the matchday experience. It’s a great place for them to invite friends, family, and clients and enjoy an afternoon of rugby in the sunshine.”  

Partnerships Manager Nick Staples says that Steamie is an invaluable asset on matchdays and thanks Addline for their continued support that allows our mascot to continue entertaining.   

“We are wrapped to have Addline back on board as they are a long-standing and valued partner of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union.  

“Steamie is still going strong. We love seeing him in action at home games and community events," says Staples.
