GET INVOLVED!
Our Referees Club is built on a strong and dedicated Volunteer base. Just like with anything - you only get out what you put in. We need members of our club to put their hands up to go that little bit extra "off-field", and we need it to not always be the same few, so that those extra-dedicated few don't get burnt out or lose the spark.
So we are calling on YOU! We have over 20 volunteer positions within our club that you can be a part of, and in some cases, we write the role description to fit the skills an individual can bring.
CLICK HERE to view the outline of all of our roles, and click on each of the blue boxes to view each role's position description. Even if someone has already been doing a particular role, don't hesitate to put your hand up! They may be looking for a change, or if not, we then might be able to fit you to another suitable role.
The Roles we are looking to fill in particular are:
If you are interested in any of these roles, contact RMG Chairman David Hodgson no later than Friday 24th February. As always, reach out if you have any questions (or ideas!) and we'll be glad to discuss.
Referee Policy Updates
As a result of our end-of season review last year, it was decided to create a schedule for reviewing each of our club policies spread across the year, rather than all in one go. Since then, our Appointments Policy and RMG Policy have both been reviewed, updated and ratified. You can click to read the updated policies, and all policies can be viewed on our website (more added as they are formalised/updated).
Referee Management Group Update
Our Referee Management Group (RMG) is tasked with guiding the strategic direction of our Referees Club, and provide support for its day-to-day operations. The current RMG was set at the conclusion of the 2021 season, and the RMG Appointment Panel set a two-year term for the group. This means at the conclusion of the 2023 season, a new Panel will be elected, and they will set the RMG for a new term.
Late last year, Grant Wilson and Jono Baker stepped down from their positions on the RMG. We sincerely thank them for their service to the group over the 13 months they were involved! While a quorum still remained with the remaining RMG members, it was considered best practice to ensure the group had a full allotment of members to ensure the 2023 season could run smoothly and effectively. Guidance was sought from other Board practices, and the RMG policy was subsequently updated to allow co-opting of members to fill vacant positions.
We would like to welcome Tony Dunlop into the role of Development Manager and Gary Dender to the role of Resources Manager! Both Tony and Gary not only have previous RMG experience, but they have been attending RMG meetings in their capacity as Area Liaisons over the past 15 months, so were seemless fits to be co-opted and see through the remaining current RMG term. Thank you both Tony and Gary for stepping in and serving our club!
To keep up to date with the outcomes of RMG Meetings, anyone can view the minutes on our website. The meetings are held monthly, and any club member is always welcome to attend and listen in should they have an interest! Just let RMG Chairman David Hodgson know if you plan to come along.
