Mid-Season Panel Promotions
It is with great pleasure we can annouce the following referees have been confirmed promoted up panels as at mid-May - this list includes referees promoted since the season start. When you next see them be sure to congratulate them on their hard work and commitment to our club, and deserved success!
We will recognise many of these referees at our next Baywide Meeting on 29th May.
New to Bay of Plenty Rugby Referees
It is with just as much pleasure to recognise our fully registered members who are new to our club since the start of the season. You may have seen some of these referees running around out there, or supporting from the sidelines, or some yet to make their debut. Welcome to Bay of Plenty Rugby Referees!
Also welcome back to Phil Chandler & Pudgey Veale! Great to have you guys on the whistle again!
Some frequently asked questions...
Luckily, the answers to all of the above questions are pretty simple!
Being tested on higher grade games sometimes comes about as a matter of chance and opportunity if there are no other higher graded referees available, but there are two key things you can do to ensure you are in control of your own destiny. Your growth as a referee is in YOUR hands. These things also apply to panel promotions and finals contention...
The Law Test is easy to access, and is a wonderful learning tool. Just head to boprugby.co.nz/law-test to find out all you need to know. You can even sit the test up to three times in a 6 month period! Let your panel manager know your result following.
Running a bronco can happen at any time. Just get in touch with your panel manager or a referee coach - and even encourage those in your pod or panel to run with you and tick it off together! It is simply a shuttle run of return lengths of 20m/40m/60m, completed 5 times. A coach can connect with you, and time your run. Let your panel manager know your result following.
You should be in regular contact with your panel manager with any wants/needs/desires for games, grades and locations. If you haven't interacted with a referee coach, you can arrange one via your panel manager. At very least, you should be in contact with them monthly. Weekly or biweekly during the season is highly recommended. Not sure who your panel manager is? Just ask!
