INTRODUCTION TO RUGBY REFEREEING
Are You A Current Player Thinking Of Hanging Up The Boots?
Or Maybe You've Suffered An Injury But Still Want To Stay Involved?
Or Maybe You Weren't Very Good As A Player But Still Want To Contribute?
IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU THEN YOU SHOULD TAKE UP THE WHISTLE...
Refereeing rugby is a great way to stay involved, it's the 2nd best seat in the house and you get to keep fit, without the bumps and hits.
Your 1st step to becoming a referee is to complete the Introduction To Rugby Refereeing Course. There are two ways you can complete this course:
1. Attend a Face To Face Course
The Introduction To Rugby Refereeing course is SIMILAR to the face-to-face Associate Referee courses, but slightly more in-depth. If you'd prefer to attend a course instead of completing the online version, click the button below to see all the Associate Referee course dates and times.
Or If You Want To Get Started NOW..
2. Complete The Course ONLINE
Welcome to our online training programme, “Introduction to Rugby Refereeing”. The content of this course does not assume any previous experience in the sport of rugby refereeing. It is the first stage in the rugby refereeing training and development pathway.
This online course has been written and designed directly from New Zealand Rugby’s publication of the same name, “Introduction to Rugby Refereeing.” It consists of the same 15 modules from the work book and turned into short 2-4 minute videos for the participant to watch and learn from.
How to complete this online course:
There is no pass or fail. This online course has been provided simply to provide you with another way of learning the first stage in the rugby refereeing training and development pathway. Upon completion, if you'd like some feedback on your written material, please email me and I can connect you with a local Registered Referee Mentor, or you can send your workbook to:
Cam Russell - Referee ManagerEmail: firstname.lastname@example.org Bay of Plenty Rugby UnionPO Box 4058 Mt Maunganui South 3149
Once you have completed the course, I will then get you to register as a referee, complete Rugbysmart training, and link you up with a mentor. We will then arrange for you to be issued with your 1st Year Referee uniform and get refereeing out in the middle of the field!
