Bay of Plenty Rugby Union to re-establish Te Waiariki Māori Rugby Committee

The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union has started work on re-launching the Te Waiariki Māori Rugby Committee.  Three board members, Warena Morgan, Whetu Rangi and Kiriwaitingi Rei have formed a small sub-committee (chaired by Warena Morgan) and have been tasked with getting the Te Waiariki Māori Rugby committee back up and running.

Bay of Plenty Rugby’s Chairman of the board, Scott Kahle comments, “It’s been four years since Te Waiariki Māori Rugby was up and running and the board has signed off on this sub-committee to do this piece of work to start of the process.  As the union and the region look forward to the 2023 season, it will be our first full season since 2019 without having covid impact on our game.  The board is excited to see Te Waiariki Māori Rugby back up and running again.”

Kahle continues, “The sub-committee’s first job is to reach out through our three sub unions, clubs and schools’ network, to identify the right people to sit on the committee.  Then, once Te Waiariki Māori Rugby Committee is up and running, the board sub-committee can cease and hand off the rest of the re-launching process to Te Waiariki Māori Rugby.  Their first job will be to find out from our community what they want from Te Waiariki Māori Rugby.”
