The BOPRU with the support of FMG / Farmlands and Toi Ohomai have created an opportunity for Secondary School female students to progress out of the sub union competition into a BOP Girls selection XV to assemble into a camp environment and play the curtain raiser for the Steamers vs Taranaki Bunnings NPC match at Tauranga Domain on Sunday 26th of September. This program was established in 2020 and was a roaring success with great connections made with players off the field as well as heavily contested match that resulted in a draw!

The Purpose:

 To continue to grow the women’s game in the BOP region  Create an experience where secondary school girls can participate in a performance rugby environment

 Create an opportunity to grow as young people and understand educational pathways available to them post school

Program/Campaign Schedule:

The two teams will be based on a Western v Eastern/Central groupings. Players can make them selves eligible for either team based on location of school or recognition of ‘home’ region through housing or whakapapa links.

The basic/draft outline of the program is below:

 Muster/Trial: 29th August. Registration required

Trainings for selected players: 30th August – 24th September (up to 9 hours assembly)

 Camp (compulsory): 25th-26th September in Tauranga

 Game: 26th September at Tauranga Domain curtain raiser for the Steamers v Taranaki Bulls Bunnings NPC game
