Excitement brews for Bay of Plenty rugby as the Toi Ohomai Baywide Secondary Schools finals kicks off this Friday 26 August.    

There is also the Chiefs Region Top 4 semi-finals as Tauranga Boys’ College takes on Hamilton Boys’ High from 12pm at home.   

Rotorua Boys’ will host the U14 and U16 finals and are also the defending champions of both the U16 Hika Reid and U14 Nathan Harris cups.  

Meanwhile, Mount Maunganui College will host three finals and has already won the U18 girls’ 10-a-side division final. Four of their six teams have made a final this year, an impressive showing for Mount College this season!  

Otumoetai College also had a successful year, with their U14 and 1st XV teams making their respective finals.   

Last weekend, Tauranga Boys’ College defeated Rotorua Boys’ High 22-11 in an epic battle on Nicholson Field.   

The historic win saw Tauranga Boys secure the famous Moascar Cup, an achievement not achieved by the College in 27 years.  

They will now play juggernaut Hamilton Boys’ High for the chance to go to the Chiefs region final and one win away from Top 4 for the first time in the school’s history.
