What is the Small Blacks Course About?
For coaches of:

• Junior Club rugby
• Tai Mitchell
• Primary School rugby (including AIMS/sevens)

This is the entry level for the coaching pathway and focuses on junior Rugby from Under 6 through to Under 13. Each course is tailored to give coaches the knowledge and skills required to coach at their respective levels. The course will provide basic principles for coaching skills that are relevant to each age group.NZRU policy makes this course compulsory and is to be attended by all coaches and assistant coaches of these age grades. Bay of Plenty Rugby Union insists that two coaches/Managers per team are registered.

Each course is for approximately 90 minutes and includes a small theory section for all coaches followed by a practical session. At the end of the course coaches receive some free resources including an access card to the NZRU Coaching Toolbox website.
