Bay of Plenty is a proud Rugby Union with players, coaches, referees, administrators, supporters, sponsors and volunteers from across the community contributing to our rugby family at a variety of levels here in the Bay of Plenty. For the 2014 season, our Steamers will be proudly wearing an exclusive jersey designed by one of you, during both our away match against Taranaki in August as well as our home match versing Otago in October.
The top three entries will be selected by a panel based on the criteria outlined below and submitted to our apparel supplier Sumarai to be mocked up. They will then be made available for public voting on Facebook for a period of ten days, with the winner being decided by our Bay Proud community.
Elements for consideration in the design (a score out of five will be allocated to each of the following three criteria):
The design includes elements that proudly display the Bay of Plenty holistically as a region, or by individual district with all districts (Eastern Bay, Western Bay, Central Bay) being represented. Some thoughts on how this could be portrayed are:
Local legend, identifiable local landmarks, legendary personality, historical event unique to the Bay of Plenty
Being Bay Proud means bleeding Blue and Gold! It is therefore imperative that the design retains our traditional colours. The design must also avoid clashes with the opposition teams it will be worn against—Taranaki and Otago. Finally, your design must work around placed logos and jersey numbers etc.
Express a love of rugby in your design. This is open to interpretation so do some research on what other great Rugby Union provinces have done in the past and GET CREATIVE!
